Resources

Some helpful links to explore! If you’re on a journey to make art, experience art, buy art, or sell art, below are some resources to get you there.

Career Development

  • Sharon Louden Resource Page - Sharon has created a comprehensive list of resources for art opportunities, publications, funding sources, and so much more.

  • VVrkshop.art - Paddy Johnson helps artists land the exhibitions, residencies, and grants of their dreams. Really informative IG: @vvrkshop.art.

  • Basha Consulting - Regine Basha brings decades of experience in supporting artists’ livelihoods and artistic practices. Available for private consultations.

Art Opportunities

  • Creative Capital - A thorough list of artist opportunities to apply for. Discover international, national, and regional grants with specific deadlines. I’ve had annually recurring application deadlines on my personal calendar for a very long time. It’s a great feeling when you can delete one because you finally got it!

  • Call for Entry & Public Artist - Two sites for browsing open calls and competitions whether they be local, regional, national, or international. I entered a lot of pay to play competitions in my 20’s and have a lot of thoughts about it. Today, I primarily use these sites to discover calls for art in the public art and permanent commission realm.

Journalism

  • Hyperallergic - A forum for serious, playful, and radical thinking about art in the world today. I was a former contributing writer and strongly support their coverage of art and culture.

The Market

  • Artsy - The leading online marketplace for art. Peruse it to be informed of pricing, not to compare and despair.

Platforms

  • Foundwork - a 501(c)3 charitable organization whose mission is to support access and recognition for contemporary artists wherever they are based. I used to work here and I’m proud of its development into a nonprofit with a continued production of insightful dialogues between art practitioners.
